The Brownfields Program is designed to empower states, tribes, communities, and other stakeholders to work together to prevent, assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfield properties, like preserving them as greenspace. Revolving Loan Fund Grants provide funding for a grant recipient to capitalize a revolving loan fund and to provide loans and subgrants to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield sites. Funding can be used for cleanup activities at brownfields sites for up to $1 million per applicant for a 5-year-long grant period. A brownfield is a property that may contain a pollutant, hazardous substance, or contaminant, which creates a barrier to redeveloping that property.
